Relieving Pain With Lavender Heated Neck Wrap And Other Tips

By Eloise Hewitt

Pain and discomfort in necks is quite common but this does not mean that there is so prevention neither solution. The tricks are even simple. The first one that you have to keep in mind is to keep your posture proper so that your weight would be evenly distributed.

There are also some things you can make for yourself. An example would be a lavender heated neck wrap. This is great in relieving tension and stress in your muscles.

The next step that you can take is getting yourself the appropriate chair and you should pick one that will be supportive to your posture. This should always be encouraging you to stay in the proper position while you are seated and be discouraging you to hunch over. Hunching over is one of the usual causes of discomfort.

Moreover, if your work would involve having you to sit several hours a day in front of a computer, there is a tendency that your body would stiffen up. This is also true for those you will have to take long plane or bus rides which can result to a nagging pain. To prevent this from happening you can have gentle stretching after every hour in order to loosen your muscles.

One more thing that you can simply do about this is that you can have some ice bags to relive a sudden pain and these have been considered as an effective and immediate relief. Have one of them in place on the area affected fro about ten minutes every two hours for the first two days. But wrap it with a cloth first before application.

There is yet another therapy that would be following this and that would be the heat treatment which can begin on the third day. One way you can do this is to stand in your warm shower for a couple of minutes and another way is to secure some heating packs or some microwavable pads. But there are also commercial pads which can be disposed after usage but the warmth would last for long hours.

It is also beneficial that you would get a gentle and therapeutic massage especially on the area that is affected. This would be great in reducing the pain that you feel and if you already have this setting in your shower, you can use it. You may also apply some relief creams for this and you can ask a therapist to do this for you.

If the condition is something that is very severe and the above tips would not help, you may take some over the counter medications such as paracetamol, aspirin or ibuprofen. But ensure that you will take the right dosage as indicated by the label. If this will not work, insist on seeing your doctor.

Furthermore, you should not also have a very soft mattress and check the springs once in a while because the might have been broken. Better use a firm one as this will not be hurting your spine. You can also have some exercise that can strengthen the muscles in the neck.
