Lose the Wrinkles and Look Younger

By Anne Fennell

With new developments happening all the time, treating facial wrinkles has become more specialized with a better understanding of cosmetic treatments. No one wants to be though of as "old" but sadly in this world, having younger looking skin is very important and if there are visible wrinkles others will not find a person as attractive.

What is the process of wrinkle treatments like? There are a lot of choices in where to receive these procedures, but what should a person know when considering treatment? In this article, we will examine wrinkle treatments in more detail.

What goes along with receiving wrinkle treatments?

Toxins in the air are all around us, whether it comes from the exhaust from cars, the smoke from cigarettes, or the burning rays of the sun, skin takes it's share of damage and abuse. The skin forms these wrinkles that are seen on the face, and the more there is, the less attractive some people consider you to be, unfortunately.

Botulinum toxin is used to smooth out the fine lines in one's face, and these wrinkle treatments can make a big difference aesthetically. To remove lines, all kinds of things are considered, basic skin cream of course, laser treatments, and chemical peels are also performed. While all of these are often used, it appears that botox injections are now becoming more and more popular. There are those who use less effective products such as anti-wrinkle creams that have expensive ad campaigns backing them.

What treatments make the most difference?

Unfortunately there is no clear answer to this question. Everyone is different, so the treatments chosen are tailored to the specific needs of the patient. From the available data and result, it appears that dermal fillers and botox injection have very good results, which is probably why they are so popular.

What is the average length of the effects?

Results for different treatments types vary according to which kind is administered. Skin creams have short lived effects and need repeat application often, sometimes daily to show any effect whatsoever. Botox injections are a dermal filler option that will typically last for months on end.

Price of treatment compared to effectiveness

For treatments such as these, it can't be done for a bargain price. The process chosen and the treatment provider are the deciding factors in cost, it can be around $300 or even up to $3000 or more, as these advanced treatments take specialized equipment, materials, and training. If someone doesn't mind applying skin creams every day and buying more often, this is an option for some. After a period of time, the proper cost of treatments and the results obtained can be measured more accurately. Overall however, it may be that botox injections and dermal fillers are the most cost effective amongst all the treatments available for face wrinkles. CO2 lasers are touted by certain physicians as being the treatments that are most cost effective.

Downtime following procedures

There are no side effects to recover from when using skin creams, no healing required. Microdermabrasion looks right now to likely be the quickest healing procedure of the specialized treatments available. Just because it is the fastest, doesn't necessarily mean it is the most effective or the treatment that patients have the easiest time enduring.

Summary

A wide variety of treatments exist when it comes to facial wrinkle reduction processes. These different treatments have pros and cons that must be weighed by the patient. The ultimate choice will depend on the patient, what they can afford, what they are prepared to undergo and the experience of the treating healthcare professional.
