First, one should make the list of symptoms. The symptoms making you suffer must be listed beforehand so that you can tell your therapist about it. You should put those symptoms you are bothered by the most at the top of the list. You can make your way down the list after that with the other symptoms you have.

In listing the symptoms you are suffering from, you better be specific with them. This means that you have to take note of details relevant to the symptoms you are suffering from. If it gets worse at certain times or during certain activities, if it is throbbing or sharp, you have to take note of these details as accurately as you can.

Having a goal with the treatment is a good thing. It might be to reduce pain, avoid knee surgery, or increase mobility. You should tell the therapist what goals you have in mind for getting the treatment. Explaining your goals to the therapist allows the latter to do a better job. This will allow the therapist to work on your treatment with an end result you will be happy with.

Your medical history should be revealed to the therapist. Knowing the medical history of the patient will allow the said therapist to know more about what your symptoms are actually for. You might have reports received from labs or diagnostics. If you have these reports, then you should show them to your therapist as well. The therapist should be able to read through the reports. They are health care professionals as well so they should be able to understand it. The reports will be beneficial for them.

If you are getting therapies as a result of the referral from physicians or other professionals, then you better provide the therapist their numbers. This can become necessary when the therapist wants to contact these physicians. The related people can be kept informed about the progress for the treatment.

There are therapies that will be carried out even on the first visit. To prepare for it, you should dress for the occasion. When you are dressing for this session, it will be for your own convenience to wear something comfortable. You better wear comfortable clothes and even gym shoes when visiting for the first time.
